About Me

My name is Patrick Hellmann. My background is genuinely rooted in controlling – from training as a bank clerk, through a degree in Business Mathematics and Economics at Bielefeld University, to building entire controlling departments from scratch.

My professional experience spans classic controlling, financial planning & analysis, and leading controlling teams: I have built controlling departments from the ground up, supported a company’s growth from roughly €30 million to more than €140 million in revenue, led teams of up to six people, and driven several SAP S/4HANA implementations as key user and project lead. I currently head the Controlling & IT function of a medium-sized company in a leadership role, driving digitalisation, process automation and the rollout of modern BI systems.

Independent consulting

Since March 2023 I have additionally advised companies as a freelancer in controlling, digitalisation, finance, management, strategy and planning – independently, project-based, alongside my main role. I work with several clients, decide my own approach and working methods, and act exclusively as an external service provider. Through FMSP Consulting I am not seeking permanent employment; I offer my experience on a project basis.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Mathematics & Economics, Bielefeld University
  • Bank clerk apprenticeship, Sparkasse Minden-Lübbecke
  • Controller training, CA-Akademie, levels 1–5 (reporting, planning applications, management control for executives)
  • Further training in change management and professional leadership
  • SAP certification: SAP Certified Application Associate – Business Process Integration with SAP ERP 6.0 EhP7

How I work

  • Pragmatic and implementation-focused rather than purely theoretical
  • Data-driven: sound analysis instead of gut feeling
  • Clear communication – with numbers and with people
  • Experience in both established mid-sized companies and high-growth businesses

Personal note

When I’m not building controlling processes, you’ll find me trail running, doing triathlons, or out on the ski slopes – endurance and structure simply go together for me.
